Back by Popular Demand!
Walmartopia Comes to the Capitol Theater
After a sold-out run at the Bartell Theater and critical
acclaim, Walmartopia is back by popular demand for ONE WEEKEND
ONLY at the historic CAPITOL THEATER in the Overture Center for the Arts.
When Vicki, a struggling Wal-Mart employee, speaks out about the
company's working conditions, she finds herself jettisoned into
2035, where she encounters a world run entirely by the Wal-Mart
empire.
Walmartopia is the smash musical comedy by local playwrights
Catherine Capellaro and Andrew Rohn, creators of Temp Slave, the
Musical. In response to unprecedented public demand, this
special encore performance is being produced by StageQ on March
17-18.
Walmartopia is headed to the Minnesota Fringe Festival in
August, and the playwrights are applying to the New York Fringe
Festival and the New York Musical Theater festival.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM FOR WALMARTOPIA:
"The one-of-a-kind production combines a serious political
message, zany comedy and engaging songs in an entertaining and
thought-provoking production." -Wisconsin State Journal
"A wacky and imaginative parody of big-box culture, with catchy
song-and-dance numbers and a truckload of enthusiasm from the
cast." -Capital Times
"The music rocks the show. The band plays tightly, and the tunes
are melodic and memorable." -The Progressive magazine
