Christina Martin-Wright holds a Master of Fine Arts in Directing and Dramaturgy from the Chicago College of the Performing Arts (at Roosevelt University) and is a founding ensemble member of Chicago's Wing & Groove Theatre Company. It was with Wing & Groove that she directed Alabama Rain, a production for which theatre critic Mary Shen Barnidge
(Windy City Times) listed her as one of the Top Ten Directors of 1999.
While in Chicago, Christina assistant directed an original performance piece at the Steppenwolf Theatre, which featured John Mahoney. After which she drank one too many sangrias with the playwright, Kurt Vonnegut at the cast party. Christina's other directing credits include Philadelphia, Here I Come, Wanda's Visit, Autumn Comes Early, Scrooge!, and Plague of
Innocence, a production that raised funds and awareness for Broadway Fights AIDS/Equity Cares and local AIDS organizations.
Since making her home in Madison Christina has focused on directing and teaching youth, working with several arts organizations including CTM Madison Family Theatre Company and MadCAP. Most recently she co-directed and played the title role in StageQ's™ Midwest premier of Killing Hilda. |
